Piedmont Copy, a POC family-owned printer in Oakland, has been in operation for 20 years. Business has plummeted due to CoVID-19, and they need our help to pay rent, cover past paper bills, and pay and retain their employees.
Every single book that Nomadic Press has put out since 2013 has been printed, bound, and cut by either Badar, Fatima, or Suja. The banners for the Oakland Peace Festival were printed and cut by Badar. All of the posters and postcards for Get Lit were printed and cut by either Badar or Nakul. In so many ways, they are an integral part of our literary ecosystem, and I know so many in our communities have used their services to bring their printed dreams to life with care and personal connection.
I have worked closely with them for 7 years, and I consider them to be friends and family. They care deeply about the work that they create and offer assistance when possible. Unlike many for-profit companies, they are socially conscious and care about the communities they serve.
Please help them reach their short goal of $30,000 to keep the lights on, retain their employees, and weather this storm as best as possible. These times are tight for so many of us, and we've got each other. If you cannot give at this moment, please help us spread the word to those who might be able to assist.
