Dear Friends and Animal Lovers,
Today, we come to you with hopeful hearts, asking for your support for Picolo. This brave little fighter has already endured so much in his life, and now, he is facing his biggest battle yet. Picolo has been diagnosed with a fast-growing cancer, hemangiosarcoma, which, without urgent surgery, will lead to unbearable pain and, ultimately, take his life.
The cost of the surgery and post-operative care is more than his owner can afford alone.
Picolo’s Story: A Life of Resilience and Love
For most of his life, Picolo wandered the streets of Colombia, surviving on scraps, with no home to call his own. At nearly 10 years old, he was finally rescued by an animal shelter, but sadly, no one wanted to adopt an older dog with medical needs.
That was until his owner found him. When she reached out to Adopta No Compres, she asked for the dog no one else wanted—and from that moment, Picolo found a home.
Soon after adoption, Picolo was diagnosed with heartworm disease. His treatment lasted two long years, during which he was hospitalized twice for pulmonary thromboembolism—a life-threatening complication.
Despite everything, Picolo has never stopped fighting, and he has never stopped loving. He greets each day with unwavering resilience, wagging his tail and cherishing the home he almost never had.
Picolo is in dire need of surgery to remove a fast-growing cancer. Without this procedure, Picolo risks permanent damage to his urinary tract, continued pain, and unfortunately, death.
