During the morning of June 17th, Local Philadelphian, Welford Poindexter, had extreme damage done to his property by a house fire. Welford “Philly Pop-Pop” Poindexter has been in this home since 1976, with his wife Rose Marie Poindexter, until her passing in 2014. This house raised two kids, three grandchildren, 52 foster children, and holds many memories for the Poindexter family.
Fortunately, the house was not damaged to the point that it is a total loss. It is livable; however, expenses will completely fall on Philly Pop-Pop, and he could use everyone’s help at this time.
The fire has now displaced three family members- Welford, his daughter, and his granddaughter. During Corona Virus, it is so important to be able to live in your own home and they could use the community’s help.
Right now, we have an quick estimation of $20,000, but will be getting appraised soon.
