Save Our Stinky

Our beloved tortoiseshell cat Stinkynukas got a mass in her mammary gland which we had removed and tested two weeks ago.
We were hoping it wasn’t going to be anything terrible but tragically our vet let us know that it was a malignant carcinoma and that it had started to affect the nearby lymph node.
As soon as the test came back, on the advice of our vet and based on our own research and inquiries we booked her in for a mammary strip to stop the spread of the cancer.
Though it was a very serious operation, she has been healing very well and has returned to her playful, friendly and cuddly self.
We got a referral from our vet to the Royal Dick Veterinary Hospital (Edinburgh), Oncology department to find her the most effective treatment, with two things in mind - trying to save her life and to maintain her quality of life.
Needless to say but here’s us saying it, she is our baby, our little heart.
The first test they took - a fine-needle aspiration biopsy - came back inconclusive and the removal of the tumour allowed them to discover what it really was, and the second operation gave her body a chance to evade attack for a little longer, now we just need to find the right treatment to continue with.
Sadly, as Stinkynukas had a mammary cyst removed a few years ago, her insurance won’t cover any tumours or growths, as they listed this a a pre-existing condition even though that was a cyst, and this is cancer.
So far we both have poured our savings into her treatment (the current toll is around £2200) but as of her referral appointment on Monday the 29th that will jump up another £800 and the treatments may begin immediately at a so far unknown cost.
Unfortunately, only one of us is currently working, as Loreta has recently broken her leg, and is unable to work for a while.
Any help saving our lovely cat’s life we would be eternally grateful for.
