Save Our Shoot!

This is an appeal to help save Glemham Hall Shoot...

Covid-19 is having a detrimental affect to the livelihoods of many businesses including gamekeeping. Our shoot at Glemham Hall needs us as a community to pull together to support them and our appeal.

Glemham Hall Shoot is a family run business with a great atmosphere, comradeship and community. We are a small group of beaters here at Glemham and the surrounding area who enjoy being part of it and want to keep it alive.

The massive outlay needed to run a shoot is quite astonishing. The buying of chicks, keeping them warm, fed and well looking after is more than a full time job.

Glemham's 3000 acres has mixture of arable and pastoral land, the keepers here help protect valuable crop for the wider population of this country. This in turn helps keep the balance of nature and the wildlife here thrives.

But we are in uncertain times. Are shoots going to be allowed to go ahead? Will this all be for nothing? It really is a make or break year for many, and many have already folded. Planned driven clay days have already been cancelled, but the costs in setting these up have already been made. When September comes will the season even be able to start?

People understandably are unwilling or cautious to outlay money for shooting that might not go ahead but the costs are already being outlaid.

The mental strain of all this uncertainty is worrying to say the least and has detrimental affects on peoples lives. The support given to key workers has shown the true spirit of this great country and I thank everyone for that. Now is the time to also show that we can do the same for everyone.

This page is to help our game keepers keep their jobs, the shoot running and be able to carry on this long standing tradition. Enthusiasts come from far and wide, especially to enjoy this popular Estate.

It is a time to help keep jobs going within the area and the Estate itself. It's outdoor fun for the children, the next generation, earning pocket money and enjoying time with friends. For the older generation it's a chance to get out, come along and enjoy time in the beautiful surroundings of the suffolk countryside also being a huge benefit to personal wellbeing.

It's a hobby for many enthusiasts in countryside pursuits, not to mention all the workings dogs who live for their jobs, life wouldn't be the same without it.

The money raised will go towards wages, living costs and wildlife management.
