Our High School and Middle School need instrument repair!
Columbia Heights Educational Campus (CHEC) needs your help with instrument repair.
The CHEC Music Department is proud of its music program that encompasses a 6th grade Beginning Band, 7th and 8th grade Band, Marching Band, Latin Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Afro Pan-American Ensemble, and Show Choir. We also offer piano and music technology courses. In addition, the CHEC Music Department partners with the Kennedy Center, Washington Performing Arts Society, DC Arts Collaborative, DC Youth Orchestra, and MusicianShip.
Currently, we have a serious issue that will halt the growth of our Music Department. Our instruments are in disrepair, and we do not have any funding to fix them. Starting next August, we will have eager student musicians standing at the door that will need to be turned away, and the door barred to their music education. About our School:
Our school is a public Middle and High School located in Washington, DC. We are a Title 1 school, where 100% of students are considered "economically disadvantaged." 99% of our students come from a minority background— 67% of our students are Hispanic/Latino, and 33% are Black. Our school vision is to prepare students to succeed in college and civic life as leaders in the quest for social justice. Partnering with Grace Yoga and Pilates:
