Save Our Dairy Farm

Our Dairy Farm has been suffering for years due to low milk prices. We are stubborn and have been doing everything that we can to cut costs and make ends meet. At one point we employed 4+ employees but now we are down to zero employees. We do everything by ourselves plus we now both work off farm trying to earn enough money to pay bills. Our electricity is on the verge of being disconnected every month because the money just isn't there. Cows and heifers and calves need to be fed and housed and that is a big expense. We are mentally tired from the stress of trying to make everything work. We are physically tired from working too many jobs to try to keep afloat. Funding from banks has been non-existent for 11 years now except for covering the costs for 2 new wells when 1 went dry and the other well the casing caved in. We have equipment that needs to he repaired but we dont have the funds. We have past due bills upon bills that have been put on hold waiting for a consolidation loan. We are tired of the struggle but are too stubborn to just give up. We love our animals and our daughter loves her animals and being able to show through the 4-H program. Farming is a way of life that effects the whole community when farms fail. Our farm has been in the family for over 60 years. Farming is a family tradition and we need help to keep going forward.  We pray that milk prices will finally rebound so that dairy farmers can make a living doing what they love.  I pray that help will come along so we can pay the electric bill, continue to keep feed in front of the cows, and put food on our table.
