We have started this gofund me page to ask kindly for donations of any amount whatsoever to help keep our club open.
Allanton Miners have been going since 1963 And was built and paid for by the Miners. The club was built for the Miners from Kingshill 1, 2 And 3 And the surrounding area so they and their families could enjoy some down time and socialising.
Allanton Miners was always a thriving club in days gone by but it has unfortunately hit a period of decline like so many other social clubs over the years. Over the last few years the club has been running at a considerable loss and debts have been mounting up. The only option for the committee was to seek advice and the advice they were given is that the club was no longer sustainable and would have to close. The closure is set for 22nd October 2018.
When wind of the closure got round the village and surrounding areas a meeting was swiftly arranged in Allanton Miners club on Monday 27th August for members of the public to come along and put their views forward to the club committee and to see if it was possible to SAVE OUR CLUB.
Around 80/100 people attended the meeting which was a fantastic response and the following was decided.
SAVE OUR CLUB to set up a separate committee from the Social Club and will deal with all fund raising, any money raised will go directly to SAVE OUR CLUB committee. This committee will then pay any outstanding money owed and put the club back on the road to prosperity.
there is a lot of memories and history within the walls of the club and we are not prepared to see these just disappear.
The SAVE OUR CLUB committee have set a target of 40k to be raised and we think this is achievable with donations and nights we are arranging in the club over the next six weeks, this will only be achievable with donations and a lot of hard work.
Any donation is much appreciated and we can assure you it will be put to good use and bring a smile back to the community of Allanton and give us a thriving club to be proud of.
