If you've visited us at Mill City Cheesemongers , you know that we're committed to supporting local dairy farms and cheesemakers. The COVID-19 crisis is hurting small food businesses. Our sales and our cheesemakers' revenues were down about 75% in March, and April will likely be worse.
Frankly, we're worried.
Your donations will provide some immediate cash flow to:
1) help the shop to cover operating expenses;
2) enable us to purchase cheese from local farms .
We want to keep buying from local farms to sustain their businesses. But while the shop remains closed and our sales are very limited, we can't justify the cost of ordering perishable cheese.
Funds raised here will make it possible for us to buy cheese from farms in Massachusetts, Vermont,andthe rest of New England/the Northeast and to pack that cheese in meals we donate to our community and offer at our weekly farm market on a pay-what-you-can basis. We will supplement your donations with limited sales of local cheese for shipping. With some of our operating costs and the costs associated with delivery/shipping covered, we can make this work!
This campaign is part of the Small Business Relief Initiative, and thanks to GoFundMe and Intuit, if we raise at least $500, we may receive a matching grant. We've already been overwhelmed by the kindness and support our community has offered. Your cheesemongers and cheesemakers are so grateful for your help! #SmallBusinessRelief #SmallBizRelief
