Save Oran's Children

Donation protected
Oran's testicular cancer is back. This time it's in his lymph nodes, and the only way to cure him is with chemotherapy. His doctor encouraged him to make as many trips to the sperm bank as possible before chemo to preserve our chances of having kids, since they can't guarantee his ability to make sperm after treatment. They told us if sperm production comes back at all, it could take up to 8 years to return to normal. This was a devastating blow to our family as we have been trying to have children for almost two years, and all three of our pregnancies during this time have ended in miscarriage. We found out we were going to have the third miscarriage the day before his doctor told us the cancer had recurred.

Insurance does not cover sperm banking, and it's very expensive--$150 each time he makes a deposit, as well as a monthly charge per vial to keep them frozen until they can be used. Each vial is one attempt at conception. Where we have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss with no known cause, we need as many attempts as we can get to expand our family.

His first cycle of chemo starts at the end of the month. He's been hitting the sperm bank as much as possible since last Tuesday (when we found out it was back), and he will continue to bank until the first day of chemo.

Our goal here is about $3000. Any funds that surpass that or are leftover from sperm banking will be put toward medical bills for treating his cancer.
