Save Opti Island

This past November, MDI Community Sailing Center's treasured Opti Island was ripped apart and washed ashore by a storm. This harbor float was integral to the smooth sailing of our summer Junior Programs -  it served as a platform for teaching, swimming, snack time and boat storage. We're hoping to raise $25,000 to rebuild a new and improved Opti Island, which we can use to continue our MDICSC traditions, as well as improve upon the programs that currently exist. A new, sturdy Opti Island will provide our junior campers with a place to congregate for morning snack and on-the-water instruction, and serve as a safe location from which both beginner and racing students can practice capsize drills. 

Everyone here at MDICSC would greatly appreciate any and all donations to aid in rebuilding Opti Island, and bring back the fun experiences our summer sailors have come to love. Although we already have $20,000 raised from previous fundraising, this remaining $5,000 is essential to building a safer, more durable float that will last for years to come.
