Since 2012 I've operated an educational staffing agency. The company experienced consistent growth over the years. So much so that two years ago we received a large SBA loan to support the scaling of the business. Fast forward to this current school year where our revenues took a hard hit due to changes in the industry, which made it more difficult to keep up with expenses. My team and I have been working hard to turn things around financially. The lender agreed to pause drafting the monthly payments starting in November and interest only payments have been made whenever possible. Unbeknownst to me it was not enough to satisfy the lender. On Friday I received a notification that I had until December 30 to pay a total of the past due payments (that they agreed to postpone) or they would proceed with legal action to collect on the entire balance of the loan. This letter left me feeling like I had been kicked in the gut.
In order to collect said loan balance my home would be sold, along with my remaining assets. This would leave my family homeless with nothing. In order to avoid legal action and get the loan payments modified I need to raise an additional $2500 by Monday, December 30, 2019.
