Hi everyone, my daughter has the friendliest 2-year-old Rottweiler, Maverick, that needs our help! My daughter has already spent $6000 trying to save her baby, and as of today, we have no answers.
On 11-24, my daughter noticed Maverick went to pee and he couldn't. She took him to the ER because, of course, it was after hours. They diagnosed him with a UTI and sent him home with gabapentin and amoxicillin. On the 26th and 27th, she thought the medicines were working because he could potty. On the 28th, my daughter said Maverick seemed off. She looked up the side effects of gabapentin, thought it was that, and quit giving it to him. She thought, 'I'll see how he is in the AM.'
On 11-29, everything turned for the worst. **Maverick couldn't see and was running into walls.** My daughter immediately took him back to the vet. They said his lens had shifted and to get him to UF Ophthalmology now. So, she took Maverick to UF Ophthalmology. The ophthalmologist said his blood pressure was 300 and he is blind. **Maverick lost vision in both eyes; his retinas are detached.** He has now spent two days of testing and around-the-clock fluids, and she still has no answers.
I'm making this GoFundMe in hopes of Maverick being able to stay one more day so they can get his blood pressure right and we can follow up with our primary vet, so it won't be thousands as it is now. **If you have it in your heart to donate, even if it's $5, this way my daughter can hopefully find out what's causing this or if the UTI is fully gone, and now she can focus on his eyes.** Maybe there's a specialist that can reattach his retinas. This is a devastating time for us with Maverick. Thank you in advance.
