My great grandmother is Kaohe (52nd). My family and I are heirs to Kaohe Mauka, exactly where they plan to build the Thirty Meter Telescope. Although my family is against this project, we do not have the adequate funds to stop them from building. So here I am, asking the general public to help my family stop this project from moving forward for attorney fees.
I found an attorney on the island of Oahu who will go against the University of Hawai’i, Ige and the State of Hawai’i, DLNR, DHHL, the US Military and anyone else involved on the pro-TMT side. I have already met with this reputable attorney (who is always on the news winning cases) and he is asking $25,000 for the whole case.
As heirs, we do not want a 16 story (180 feet) telescope on the mountain. We do not want 5 acres to be utilized for politics and war crimes. We do not want foreigners to make a profit on our sacred mountain. We do not want another project that doesn’t benefit all Hawaiian blooded people and we do not want to cause any harm to our endangered plants, birds, bats and insects.
Please help us save our sacred Mauna Kea mountain from any “for profit commercial businesses” that use our islands for their own profit, that harm our islands for our children’s future, and leave us with pollution and restoration problems when they’re done with making their billions. Help us start the process and in return a sign will be made with your name on the Mauna as a thank you for helping and believing in my Ohana and our ancestors.
