<div>Feels strange to be writing this and reaching out to you all but also grateful this platform exists for such occasions. I'm starting this Go Fund Me on behalf of my dog Lucas. With his current condition he was unable to write this himself, so here I am helping him out.
</div>

<div>I've had Lucas since he was six weeks old and he is now the ripe young age of nine. He has been the most loyal, easy goin, loving and entertaining dog I could have ever asked for. Over the years Lucas has been on some epic adventures for a dog and has loved every minute of it.
</div>

</div>
<div>A few months ago, he was diagnosed with IVDD which is a bulging vertebrae in the spine thats pressing on his spinal cord causing him the loss of movement in his hind legs. The silver lining is that the vertebrae thats bulging in his spine is the last vertebrae in his spine so it's only affecting his back legs and he does not appear to be in pain.

<div>The diagnosis we received is that his condition will decline and will ultimately lead to his hind legs &amp; lower organs being paralyzed without the proper treatment, which is unfortunately, a very expensive surgery not covered by his insurance.
</div>

<div>Our options are either do nothing and supplement with Physical Therapy to slow down the gradual deterioration of his lower body OR spinal surgery to prevent his paralysis and to regain his lower body function.
</div>

<div>I am very grateful that treatment exists and feel that it is my responsibility to help Lucas in any way I can so he can live his remaining years as a healthy happy dog.

<div>Between the multiple vet visits, the MRI's and X-rays and medications we've put as much as we can into his treatment and were crushed when we were told we could save him but at a cost that is honestly not within our reach.
</div>

<div>Because of the astronomical cost and because watching Lucas slowly deteriorate is not an option, I've decided to start a GoFundMe campaign for Lucas's surgery.
</div>
