We found a cure, but devastatingly, we can't afford it.
My mum was diagnosed with terminal Stage 4 Ovarian cancer in 2015. Chemotherapy was always palliative. So we researched and found a clinic in Germany that offers immunotherapy alongside a combination of vaccines to promote cancer cell death. The treatment is £23,000 every three weeks and the outcome is remission.
We have sold our house, both of our cars, and spent all of her retirement fund on her first treatment. In the first 2 weeks of treatment, her markers came down from 800 to 179. This was incredible news, but we are devastated because we simply cannot afford any more treatments. The doctors said that she will most likely only survive if she is able to finish the treatment process.
