Save London's Last DVD Rental Shop

Nothing says 90s nostalgia like Friday nights at the local film rental shop.

While the days of Blockbuster are behind us, For Your Eyes Only in Forest Hill, South East London is one of the last remaining DVD rental shops in the UK.

Since its opening in 1998, the Dartmouth Road shop has stocked countless films from the latest cinematic releases to cult horror classics. Owned by film enthusiast Gulam Charania, For Your Eyes Only has outlived Blockbuster by a decade and managed to survive the rise of the streaming giants, but it is now under direct threat of closure.

During the summer of last year, the shop was forced to close for three months after a parked car rolled down Derby Hill opposite and smashed through the shop front, narrowly missing the customers inside. This setback along with pandemic losses is forcing the shop to close permanently after 25 years.

It would be a huge loss to our local area to see For Your Eyes Only close its doors.
