My name is Brenda Johnson and I’m reaching out, hopeful that others will assist me in bringing attention to a devastating matter, regarding a church that has been the epicenter of hope, for so many people within the Houston area and surrounding counties. They have been members of the Houston Food Bank since 2007, and have provided meals to children and seniors, through year-round programs.
-- In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, they have remained active on the frontlines, assisting their community with messages of hope, supplying food, and other essential items, setting up in parking lots at Walmart (Walters Road and FM 1960 W) and directly in front of their church.
-- During the Harvey storm, they daily provided and delivered emergency food from their building, supplied by the Houston Food Bank, to residents throughout the Houston area and surrounding counties. I know this because I was personally there to assist them. With a skeleton crew, we were daily assisting Houston with food, from 7:00 a.m. – 6-7:00 pm, almost daily, and some Sundays, after church service.
-- They assisted Houston during the Rita storms, by providing daily meals and food items to the people of Houston.
-- They assisted during Katrina, by traveling directly to New Orleans to assist displaced residents with shelter, needed food items, emergency funds and whatever assistance they could offer, along with Storm Rita as well.
-- On May 30th, they partnered with me to provide meals to more than 200 homeless in the downtown Houston area, while we assisted many of them in getting registered for their stimulus payments, on-site, from our vehicles. Along with messages of hope, they’ve promised to continue their efforts with Houston’s homeless and unsheltered community.
-- Despite being a small ministry, they have gone above and beyond the call of duty to assist the people of Houston in many ways. They’ve also provided clothing assistance, for those in need of clothing.
-- They sold their home in the Old Oaks subdivision to build a school for orphans of the Liberian war, along with assisting families of their children’s daycare center.
This is a small ministry, but, they have provided more assistance and gone out of the way to help others in ways that larger ones have never even considered.
Sadly, they've received notice that their church property (which is also their home, since the sale of their own home to assist others) will be auctioned off on July 7th, 2020. This is the reason I’m reaching out to others for help. They’ve become delinquent due to the pandemic while trying to assist others in their needs and the lender has decided to auction off a dwelling place, that has been the epicenter of Hope for far too many people to number.
Proverbs 19:17 KJV "He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again."
