Hi my name is Sara and I’m fundraising for my kitten Lewis (little Lew). I got Lewis after I began to struggle with anxiety and panic attacks while working as a covid nurse. He quickly became my steady companion. He is the best little bud, sleeping in arms every night and sitting on my lap in the car running errands with me. I’ve truly never met another cat so sweet and loving as Lew.
However, recently he began showing neurological symptoms and my little nursing butt marched him to the vet. We were told that Lew had FIP and that putting him down was the only option.
Lew has a history of upper respiratory infections and every time I had brought him in, he was given a dose of antibiotics. I was so mad that no vet had caught this ahead of time, before the virus progressed, having now crossed the blood-brain barrier. Sobbing, I signed him out of the emergency vet against their advice to care for him at home and started researching cures.
That’s when I stumbled across the (extremely expensive) antiviral medication. It felt almost unreal that I had treated so many covid patients with the same antiviral that Lew needed, but that I couldn’t get my hands on it (until I met FIP warriors).
This medicine is truly liquid gold, it’s been working and we just started treatment! The only thing is, it’s not in my budget at all. However, if there is a medication that treats this horrible virus, I am going to do everything in my power to make sure that my best friend is treated. Would you consider donating so that Lew can continue on his treatment?
