Save Life Gambia

In Many African countries there a common theme of a lack of safety precautions. However, upon recent travels to The Gambia, I feel that this is somewhere that is in urgent need.

Despite the implementations of traffic signals in the Gambia, it surprised and shocked me that various areas did not have traffic signals of lights, around School areas. As a result of this. there are many children being knocked down and even dying on the road via, vehicles ie, cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

This is why upon thorough research of programs also aware of such crucial issues, I have discovered a group of volunteers in the Gambia called Save Life Gambia who have taken up the challenge to do something about it. The volunteers go out to schools in the community and inform both staff and children of taking safety precautions when crossing the roads > There work includes:

- Initiating role-play between the volunteers, staff, and children on how to be safe when crossing the road.
-Supporting staff in creating a rota schemes for staff to rotate lollipop person duties.
-Providing information to road users about taking care on the road specifically around school areas.

With the funds raised from GoFundMe, I will be able to curate
-High-quality equipment and resources for the lollipop persons, staff, and children.
-Reading and writing material for the public and parents on awareness of road safety.
High vis jackets for the children so they can be seen.
Lollipop sticks for volunteers.
Outside paint for) zebra crossing outside of the schools);
First Aid Kits and materials.

So with the support of the funds gathered from GoFundMe, this will enable    SAVE LIFE GAMBIAto make the children and the public aware of how important it is to be safe on the road, but most importantly, help Save Lives.
