It was brought to my attention today that the state of Florida has not stepped up to the plate to help Lew Sweener ( my sisters husband) since his heart attack
Lew is only 53 years old and had a heart attack and two stints put in . He was sent home with an external defibrillator until he could pay for surgery somehow. He needs a pacemaker and a defibrillator to live. He worked full time but had no benefit of insurance .
He has tried for state help for this life saving surgery and was granted food stamps but denied help in keeping a roof over their heads because they have no children . So .... his wife is disabled and just beat cancers azz !
These guys are at a total loss as to what to do . They have sold about everything they own just to get by so far. Heartbreaking to say the least.
