<div>Lake Moodemere Needs Your Help!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Are you worried about the future of our precious Lake Moodemere and Sunday Creek?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A proposed industrial development threatens to contaminate these vital waterways with toxic runoff and pollution - oils, diesel, micropollutants, ‘treated’ waste water etc. A 24hr Highway Service Station with numerous fuel pumps (over 10) for light and heavy vehicles; a duel truck wash; a weigh bridge; a waste water treatment plant that will spray the ‘treated’ waste water out over the adjacent paddocks; a fast food convenience store with dining for 30 patrons; along with a truckers lounge and car parking for over 20 vehicles - and this is just stage one!!

</div>
<div>———————————————————
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As concerned residents, landholders, farmers, environmentalists, indigenous peoples and recreational users of Lake Moodemere we strongly object to this proposed industrial development being built adjacent to a environmentally sensitive Conservation Reserve, at the intersection of Federation Way and the Murray Valley Highway, Rutherglen NE VIC.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This pristine and precious reserve is more than just a waterway, it is a sanctuary teeming with endangered, threatened and vulnerable species. Among its residents are the Sunday Creek Platypus colony, the elusive and endangered Rakali, fresh water crays, an intriguing variety of fish species and migratory and native birdlife; the Buloke Woodlands of the Murray Darling Depression Bioregions, aka Buloke Tree (<em>Allocasuarina luehmannii)</em> is also found within the reserve, an endangered species which has recently been listed under 'Schedule 2 Listed Ecological Communities' of the Federal Endangered Species Protection Act 1992.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are devastated and alarmed to learn of this proposed development be located adjacent to this haven. Night and day the operations of such an imposing industrial development will undoubtedly produce destructive pollutants and noise that will disrupt, destroy and damage these natural habitats, contaminate the waterways, risking immediate harm and long-term environmental degradation and so much more.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Data from the ‘Endangered Species Protection Act 1992’ show there are a number of other species within the conservation reserve that would be under threat and therefore any actions disrupting their habitat, such as this proposed industrial development, would be in breach of the Act and pose a serious threat to their existence.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our opposition to this development is more than just a fight for the serene beauty of our environment; it's an imperative action to save the wildlife that rely on this habitat.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have called on the Indigo Shire Councillors, the Indigo Shire Planning Department the relevant statutory authorities NECMA, VIC Roads, Dept of Transport, GM Water, NE Water and now VCAT to consider their decision wisely. We implore them to prioritise the conservation and protection of this irreplaceable ecosystem over a toxic and destructive industrial development.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please, stand with us in preserving the pristine and vital waterways of Lake Moodemere - your donation will support our fight to Save Lake Moodemere &amp; the Sunday Creek Conservation Reserve from demise.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>All funds raised will will go toward the planning and legal expenses to fight this, so every dollar counts.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank You.
