Save Krudar Muay Thai

Donation protected
The truth is, we’re struggling. We need your help! A one-time $50 donation (or whatever you can give) will keep Krudar alive until Government covid-19 business support arrives.

Krudar has helped 1000s of people find health, confidence, mental wellness, and community. Students walk into our gym alone, but they walk out with a family. We don't just teach Muay Thai, we teach confidence, empowerment, determination, community, and camaraderie. We are home to World Champion athletes who lead and inspire our youth. For the past 15 years, we have been blessed to work each and every day serving our communities in Kensington Market and Don Mills, Toronto. We hope to remain a strong pillar in Toronto's small business community and are working hard to keep Krudar alive so that we are ready to lead again when the time comes.

A sad goodbye to Kensington Market

Sadly, due to the Covid-19 shutdowns, our two businesses have been closed for several months and this has placed us in a very difficult financial situation. Last week, after an 8-month struggle with our landlord to work out a fair rent relief plan for our Kensington location (152 August Ave), the locks on the doors have been changed, our assets inside the gym have been seized, and an eviction notice has been issued.  We are deeply saddened by the thought of saying goodbye to our community in Kensington Market.

We continue to work with our Government

Despite the negative financial impact of 2 mandatory shutdowns, the health and safety of our community continues to be our top priority. We will continue to cooperate with our government to find ways to keep our families mentally and physically strong while we battle this pandemic together. We know that the provincial government is working on extending the commercial eviction ban and we also know that the federal government is revamping its rent relief program to put support directly into the hands of tenants. Unfortunately, neither of these programs are currently available, nor will the rent relief be retroactive, and we are facing a race against time to save the business as a whole.

But we know we are not alone.

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on so many small businesses, individuals, and the communities they serve.

Our goal is to ensure that adults and children can continue to access health, and mental wellness programs when they need it most. We hope to continue to offer Muay Thai programs outdoors, online, and at our Don Mills location so that we can help people to find strength during these times.

Your support helps us support others:

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to make sure we still have the staff and resources available to continue these programs now and in the future. If each person donated $50 today, we could reach our goal immediately. Your contribution will:

1) Ensure children can continue to access valued mentors, transformative Muay Thai, and physical/mental health programs when they need it most.  This money will carry us until the Spring, our hopes are that the pandemic situation will be very different by then.

2) Allow us to reach more people with online programs that offer mental health, fitness, and community benefits during this challenging time.

3) Ensure we’re still here to welcome our students back once the pandemic has passed.

Together we can help our community stay strong and build the skills needed to overcome today's challenges. Whether it is physical or mental health, this has never been more important.

Thank you for choosing to become a part of our journey. Your support, inspiration, and love mean the world to us.
