Save Kilcoe Medieval Church Ruin

Donation protected
Please support Kilcoe Medieval Church Ruin Restoration Group
in their efforts to save the beautiful old church ruin at Kilcoe, a structure of significant historical importance, from detrimental decay.

The group have successfully secured a Heritage Grant from the Council to get the first phase of works completed (a Conservation Report by an archaeological engineer). However, they are €714 short.

Please support this cause!

All we want is the ivy to be safely cut back so that the original edifice and unique features can be properly preserved on this beautiful gothic structure. The vegetation is so thick it is now penetrating the walls, causing the seaward wall to crack, buckle and crumble. Hence we need it expertly removed to avoid additional damage, and we need to act quickly!

The issue of neglect has also been raised with the Municipal District and it is hoped that once in better condition, the council will carry out regular maintenance to make sure this doesn't happen again, through the periodic and safe removal of vegetation.

Every donation over €5 will be entered in to a draw to win lovely prizes including
- Sailing trip to the site of the medieval ruin in Roaringwater Bay, on a traditional wooden boat with Nigel Towse
- Kitchen Garden Gift Box from Brown Envelope Seeds worth €50
- New release "Extraordinary, Ordinary Women: Untold Stories from The Founding of the State" by Karen Minihan - Donated by Cathal O'Donovans

To be drawn at the trad session in Minihans Bar, Lisheen on Thurs 14th July
