Hello, ello to everybody reading this I am Katie and I am a past volunteer with KIDA Katosi inter-community development alliance.
I set up this campaign on my first week with KIDA and below is the story of the campaign:
"I have decided to volunteer with this organisation for the fact that although it's a small organisation it's one that I can see uses every effort and money they have to make the best for this community. Unlike some bigger NGO's to be here I pay very little which goes towards my food and other costs, with most NGO's you have to pay a lot to volunteer where a lot of this money goes into the administration or directors hands rather than straight into the projects and for this reason I have decided to help KIDA as they have started from something very small and each day are fighting to expand and find more resources some how to support this community. Henry and Tony are the founders of this organisation and one of their projects currently is building a new school here in Katosi for the orphans. The school they currently have unfortunately isn't up to the required standards and is currently very unsanitary and dangerous for the children so because of this the government authorities are threatening to close the school, the only option here is to build a new one. Currently KIDA have managed to build the foundations as they have been sponsored by other volunteers and people that want to help, every week they are visited by authorities and if the authorities see no progress they will unfortunately close the school. Not only will they be without an education but these orphans will have no where to go and for many this is there only way of receiving a meal. So without immediate funding there is a chance that the school will be closed. I am here as a volunteer to help and by setting up this page, I am in hope of helping these children, the school is nearly finished and fixing in the windows and doors is the next step , so whatever money right now to help the funding of this school is much appreciated. I am here in Uganda and seeing what needs to be done and all the projects they have here are all truly wonderfully simple but effective the only problem is the miniscule amount of funds as it's such a small organisation the only funding they can receive is from volunteers like me and many others. So if you can simply donate how ever much you can and maybe skip buying a coffee or lunch out and may be instead use that money however little or big the donation is, it will mean the world not only to me but to every orphan, every teacher, every person of this community and of course to everyone here at KIDA. Henry himself was a half orphan and so feels very strongly towards this because there was someone at one stage there to help him and he really feels ever so passionately towards helping these kids and by you guys simply donating it will change everything for these kids here. This ain't no spam or scam this is a real genuine reach out to help real genuine children who are really going through real hardship. Thank you for reading this it's much appreciated and I hope from the goodness of your heart you decide to stop and think about these children and perhaps even donate a little bit which is going towards a genuinely great cause!
I really do hope we can reach our goal and KIDA can then share with you guys the finished school which will hopefully be finished as soon as possible, so these kids can continue their education in a safe and sanitary environment!"
Fortunately many kind friends and family made a big step possible for everyone at KIDA and with the money fundraised the school roof was finally completed.
Although the roof may be finished there is still yet to go the last leg of completion which is fitting in the doors and windows. This is just one project that needs immediate funds right now. The other is of the future skills development center where the funds donated will be going towards the construction of the new building as well as all the equipment needed for within the building once finalised.
