Remember Juneau

Juneau is a 10 ½ year old Siberian husky, who I adopted just before his first birthday.
On February 22, 2018 Juneau underwent surgery to remove a large tumor from his liver that would have resulted in his death if it had not been removed. Unfortunately, he has since suffered a series of complications that required a second surgery on February 25, 2018 to repair internal organs and remove his gallbladder which had become infected.
I am a graduate student and have taken on several side jobs to help pay for his surgery, but his recent complications and second surgery have increased costs beyond an affordable amount. If I am able to raise donations on his behalf, all funds will go towards his veterinary bill at the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center. (I’m not sure how this works, but I can post an itemized, timestamped bill upon his discharge to verify his expenses). I hope I am able to bring Juneau home by the end of the week at which time I’ll be expected to pay for his medical expenses, but we’ll have to see how he does over the next few days.
Juneau has been my companion, confidant, and best friend for nearly 10 years. He is a consistent source of strength and giver of unconditional love. Like most huskies, he’s extremely independent and also incredibly needy. He loves attention, poses for photos, turns heads, and manufactures smiles with his larger than life personality. He marches to the beat of his own drum, prances when he walks (literally) and personifies how being different is beautiful. Juneau is truly a gift, not just to me, but to everyone he meets. He has gotten me through some of the toughest times in my life, and I will do anything to save his.
I have never done anything like this before as I am a true believer in forging your own path, taking responsibility, and working for what you want. However, I feel like my hands are tied, I’m doing the best I can to supplement costs with side jobs and loans, but it won’t be enough.
I know there are an infinite number of great causes that you can donate to, and I hope this is one of them. Not only would your donation help save the life of the most remarkable, loving husky in the world, but it would also change my life forever by saving my best friend.
