Knysna Relief-Save Heartland

Donation protected
I am sitting here wondering how to motivate you, my friends, to take a minute of your time to look at this video. Everyone knows someone who was affected by the Knysna fires. Social media is an amazing tool to send and receive messages of support. When so many worthy causes are reaching out for help, however, it might have the opposite effect. People, while simpathetic, might quickly make it go away with the click of a button.

Our friends, Wayne and Inga, are our very good friends, but they are many people's very good friends. Bottomless natural beauty is what you get when travelling through the area, which is why they so regularly open their home to many of us visiting.

I cannot articulate how important they are to the conservation of nature in their area! Their everyday is spent helping the environment to thrive in the way it is meant to. Wayne through his efforts into Cape Nature, and Inga, by spending her inheritance on buying a small slice of heaven, that is, Heartland.

We were lucky to see Heartland before the flames burnt it to the ground. The land sits on a ridge not too far from Sedgefield, and when we were there, I couldn't quite capture its magnificence on a photograph. -Something from a long time ago, a place that had not been violated.

Their little strip of land is being used so wisely. With horticulture at its heart, it doesn't ignore the importance of education and social upliftment. Each step is a mindful one, every dug hole a spot for something indigenous. Children learn here, how every little action they take, can make a difference. A thousand recycle posters, wouldn't be able to replicate the awarness it instills in the young minds, who are fortunate enough to come into contact with Inga and her team.

I hope the above illustrates how special they are. We need people who are dedictating their lives to these sort of causes. To conserve with integrity and love. Projects like these need help when disaster strikes. They need us to give a little bit, or a lot. I know we all have accounts to pay, everyone is forever asking for something, it can be annoying. Without them, however, a project with the potential to reach so many, is lost. They are the epitome of "good people" who will put their heart and soul into making it all stand up again.

Should you have read this far, please consider giving R10 or anything you feel you can give, to make their enormous pile of problems a little bit smaller. You can also find them on their Heartland School of Self-Sufficiency FB page where they list what else they are in derperate need of.
