</div>
<div>OF GARNET VALLEY
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The BC Mines Ministry has shown complete disregard for the residents of Garnet Valley, the citizens of Summerland, the Summerland District Council, our Summerland zoning bylaws, and the members of the Garnet Valley Agri-Tourism Assn.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Ministry, in a truly outrageous decision, is allowing the gravel pit at 28000 Garnet Valley Road to proceed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over 300 letters of opposition were filed, pointing out the problems and the dangers:
</div>
<div>• Significant reduction in property values for everyone on Garnet Valley Road.
</div>
<div>• Noise and dust to adjacent homes.
</div>
<div>• Disruption to fish and wildlife.
</div>
<div>• Heavy trucks pounding Garnet Valley road to pieces
</div>
<div>• Danger to all the cyclists, pedestrians, and horse riders who walk or ride this narrow, winding country road.
</div>
<div>• Irreparable damage to the Agritourism businesses adjacent to the pit, and who rely on the peace, solitude, and beauty of Garnet Valley to bring in visitors from all over the Province.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Ministry’s decision will have serious negative effects for all of Summerland, and especially for Garnet Valley residents.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Not a single person from the Ministry visited Garnet Valley, spoke with any residents, or inspected the site prior to the permit being approved.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The permit was issued in record time, and now the Ministry has ‘gone to ground’. They no longer answers our calls or emails. They have and continue to show contempt for the residents of Garnet Valley and the citizens of Summerland.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>WE ARE GOING TO COURT OVER THIS AND WE NEED THE HELP OF ALL SUMMERLAND RESIDENTS AND EVERYONE WHO LIVES ON GARNET VALLEY ROAD.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>IF WE DO NOT GET THIS PERMIT CANCELLED YOU RISK HIGHER TAXES TO REBUILD GARNET VALLEY ROAD. AND IF YOU ACTUALLY LIVE IN GARNET VALLEY, YOU RISK TENS OR HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN LOST PROPERTY VALUES.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>NOW IS THE TIME TO CLICK ON TO GO FUND ME AND HELP US REACH OUR GOAL OF $60,000 TO FUND OUR LEGAL FIGHT.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>WE SUBMIT OUR APPLICATION FOR A JUDICIAL REVIEW NEXT WEEK, AND WE NEED YOUR HELP TO WIN THIS FIGHT.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!
