Save Gardiner Park from synthetic fields

Friends of Gardiner Park are dedicated to saving the natural, cultural and heritage value of our park for all the community to enjoy.
To protect our Park we have had to take Bayside Council to the Land and Environment court for commencing a project without proper consideration of the effects on residents and the environment. A synthetic field of this magnitude is completely inappropriate for this park, it’s a flood zone with potential contamination risk and is bordered closely by houses.
Many of the large heritage trees in the Park are at great risk. We need to raise $20,000 to cover our court costs and pay for detailed expert reports needed by the court to understand the project.
Synthetic fields are being installed in many parks around Australia. Your support means the world to our community who treasure this park. It also shows that there has to be a stop to inappropriate synthetic sports field installations which are essentially plastic grass. These fields are bad for our children's health and shed plastic into our waterways.
