Save Floyd

Joe & Floyd are some of our favorite neighbors. Joe is one of the good ones; he helps keep our street clean and safe, never bothers or harasses anyone, and always smiles with a friendly hello when we see him. He is active in the local Regeneration Church and AA community meetings, and although he and Floyd live very modestly in their van without a solid home for the moment, he spends much of his time in support of others in need.

Floyd recently got sick and has been diagnosed with cancer. He has a gnarly, uncomfortable penis tumor that is progressively causing him problems urinating. The good news is that our favorite friendly neighborhood vet, Dr. Traversi at San Diego Bay Animal Hospital feels that Floyd is a great candidate for a likely successful surgery that would leave Floyd healthy and feeling great for many happy years to come. The bad news is that it is unfortunately a somewhat complicated micro-surgery, and it will therefore be expensive. Furthermore, without the surgery it will doubtless be a painful and sad progression toward an imminent and untimely ending to Floyd’s life. This would leave Joe without his best friend, us without one of our favorite neighbors, and one less great dog is this world. We will not allow this to happen.

We have set up a fund to raise money for Floyds upcoming surgery. Dr. Traversi has generously agreed to heavily discount Floyd’s surgical and aftercare expenses in support of our cause, and a favorite member of our OB community. We have started off by donating the costs of all the pre-op testing, medications, and preparations to make sure the diagnosis is accurate, and Floyd is ready for his surgery, which has totaled almost $500. We need to raise approximately $3,000 or more to pay for the surgery and Floyd’s aftercare.
