Keep Field & Fire Alive
Field & Fire bakery started in 2013 with Shelby Kibler's dream of bringing the best, healthiest bread to the city of Grand Rapids. The goal was to support organic and local farmers, to support those who are stewards of the earth, and to support our local community through the means of amazing wood-fired breads. In 2016, our vision grew to include a cafe where folks could sit and talk and drink incredible coffee, and eat clean, local food.
Our businesses are a vital part of our neighborhoods and the food system in West Michigan. We support more than 25 small farms and local producers. We work closely with local farmers, building long lasting relationships, and and mutual respect.
My husband and I, and the dedicated team members of field & fire have worked tirelessly over the last 7 years to build an amazing bakery and cafe. Our bakery needs funding to stay open and pay our bills. Our cafe needs funding to help support the staff members we had to lay off. Some of whom, are not eligible for unemployment.
We’re exploring every means of possible support, including federal and local grants and loans, but these funds are not guaranteed to come in. And we have heard nothing since applying. Our people need money now, in order to keep groceries in their cupboards and diapers on their kids. Our business needs money now, before we completely run out. Our businesses are our livelihood. I cannot imagine our lives without them.
And so, we must humbly ask for your support. We know what a difficult and uncertain time this is for everyone, and we understand that there are many individuals and organizations in need. If you’re in a position to support us, we would be extremely grateful to receive that help. Any donation to this campaign will contribute to the cash resources our business needs, to take care of our staff, and to ensure the future of Field & Fire.
