Saving Estrella's Life
Donation protected
In late June of 2023, we noticed that our sweet little Estrella started forming a bump on top of her muzzle. After multiple vet visits, x-rays, MRIs, and consulting with a specialist, we were heartbroken to find out that Estrella has had a piece of shrapnel lodged within her muzzle for years. This, combined with some exposed nerve tissue in her teeth that is a result of abuse in her prior home environment, means that Estrella’s infection has become severe and if not treated quickly, can ultimately lead to fatality. Although we knew that Estrella had endured abuse before we adopted her, we never would have imaged that the cruelty and suffering she experienced would now be putting her life at risk.
Since we received confirmation in August that Estrella needs a surgical procedure to remove the shrapnel and her affected teeth, we have been saving our money in hopes of completing her procedure in March. Monique is currently completing her last year of graduate school and both her and Raquel are currently relying on a single income to make this procedure possible. So far, we have only been able to save $1,000 of the $4,000 needed for Estrella’s surgery and the deadline for payment is February 3rd, which is approaching quickly.
We are asking our family, friends, loved ones, wonderful community, and any fellow dog-lovers if they can help us reach the amount needed for Estrella’s procedure payment and protect her from a life-threatening infection. Any money donated will be used to pay for Estrella’s surgery and follow-up medical treatment that she may need to ensure her health & safety. Whatever amount you are able to contribute is beyond appreciated by her mothers, Monique and Raquel, Estrella’s younger pet siblings, Professor McGonagall and Rocco, and Estrella’s best human friend, 18-month-old Kobi.
If you are not able to contribute at this time, we would deeply appreciate if you can pass this along to any pet-lovers you know (especially those who know how sweet our pitbull babies can be). We also want to thank all the humans who have shown Estrella so much love over the years. You all have been essential in showing Estrella a life where she is safe and cared for by people who love her. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
