Enthum House Emergency Appeal

Tax deductible
Severe Government cuts to Children’s Services are putting Enthum House, our home for traumatised unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, in jeopardy.

We need your help to urgently raise £8k by the end of October. This will ensure we can continue to provide our young people with a safe refuge and accept new arrivals to Enthum House.
Although East Sussex County Council have children lined up and eager to place with us, they cannot meet previously agreed rates anymore. This unforeseen turn of events now requires our charity to focus on changing our funding model and we urgently need bridging support.

We set up Enthum House in Eastbourne following our work in the Calais Jungle. It exists to provide person-centred support for each child following their life-threatening journeys to the UK. Our mission is to offer chances to regain a sense of purpose and belonging as they settle into a culture and society unknown to them. Our 24/7 team offers bespoke mentoring, a variety of therapies, English classes, creative after school clubs, sports, legal support, all with an emphasis on resilience, cultural bridge building and local community integration.

We believe that some of our young people will be future leaders and inspire others.
It is deeply concerning to us that vulnerable unaccompanied minors are falling through the net in the current austerity climate, unable to receive the support needed, all of this is a potential ticking time bomb. They are at real risk of serious mental health issues, suicide, further trafficking, exploitation, radicalisation and many children in Europe and the UK have disappeared during the past years.

One of our current residents says: "I live at Enthum House. I can trust them without being hurt, they care about me, my hobbies, my mental health, my mood, my talents. They accept me the way I am. I don’t need to change myself or change something for them and the most important thing is they really care about my decisions and they help me to make the best decisions for myself."

Thank you for your ongoing support, every £5 makes a difference and helps us to keep Enthum House up and running!
