Update: After 2 months in the hospital fighting for her life, fighting to breath, and fighting for the strength to move; Dionne is now home. We still need your support! Dionne needs a bed that is adjustable in firmness depending on her flare-ups, a wheelchair car carrier with ramp, temporary wheelchair ramps at home, help paying the “denied” Medicaid claims, and other equipment that Medicaid does not cover. She also needs more therapy than what is covered by Medicaid. Medicaid limits the number of visits a year and does not cover her to get better; it only covers her to meet their standard of “as good as it gets”. She is still struggling physically: it’s painful to get out of bed, has to use handicap tools to get dressed, she can’t bath without assistance, uses a walker and wheelchair to get around, doesn’t sleep well due to pain, is extremely restricted in her range of motion (even with therapy) in all her joints and muscles, has to take 1-2 naps a day to function, and so much more.

Dionne now has to fight with Medicaid over the medical necessity for her life saving IVIG (Medicaid has denied), for being in the hospital (denying dates of service), and life saving tests (the biopsy that identified her disease). She barely has the strength to make it through the day before having to fight with Medicaid and the hospital over bills.
Don’t let Medicaid dictate her health needs and limit her ability to improve beyond the government’s guidelines.

Please donate now to help Dionne get the equipment and care that she needs.

Dionne has a rare autoimmune disease called Polymyositis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. She is bedridden. She on  oxygen. She uses a bedpan to go the bathroom with assistance. She has zero income is on Medicaid. The limited Medicaid coverage was used up quickly. She cannot sit up , stand , walk , or clean herself. Her muscles have atrophied without her needle therapy. She has very limited range of motion in her arms and legs . She has limited grip strength...can’t even hold a cellphone. Her lung strength is such that she can’t cough or sneeze. She can’t brush own teeth. All of the above can be remedied by going into a long term rehab facility which provides rehabilitative therapies. Because she has Medicaid only and no income or way to pay for a long term rehabilitation facility her life is immediately at risk. The hospital has told us they will send her to her home with no hospital bed, IV’s , oxygen, and no therapy or help. She will likely pass away . She has no safe place to go. Obviously she is disabled, but it takes up to 2 years to obtain an official “disability “ from Medicare. It’s lifesaving long term rehab she needs now! Dionne needs your help now. The hospital wants to release her right away due to Medicaid coverage ending . Please give what you can . Bless you for your help.
