Save Darla's House

My friend Darla needs help. After dealing the last few years with medical disabilities making her unable to work, cancer, multiple surgeries, family crises, financial hardship through it all, and finally the unexpected loss of her mother, this request comes from no place other than "Good people deserve something good coming back to them."

Darla was willed her family home by her mother. The house her parents worked hard for, the house she grew up in, the so-much-more-than-four-walls place that is HOME to her. However, there are debts and legal fees that need to be satisfied before the deed can be signed over. She has no money to pay them. None, because of the struggles of medical disability coupled with unemployment. Darla has done her best to work out a repayment plan, to no avail. The lawyers have told her the house will be put up for sale in November in order to satisfy the debts. This is a family home, sentimental for reasons we all understand, worth so much more than just the $5,000 she desperately needs to keep it.

Darla doesn't want a GoFundMe. She's worked hard all her life and believes in helping others, not herself first. When I talked to her about it, she said, "No honey, so many people need it more than me."

But I don't agree. She is, simply stated, one of the kindest, most loving, most charitable and generous hearts I have ever known. She's dealt with the loss of her health and the landslide of hardships it brings with a grace and dignity and quiet strength that humbles me. I've watched her grieve, after all that, the loss of her mother and now the potential loss of what means the most to her, her parent's home.

I don't want it to happen. She deserves to keep it. Darla would never ask for help, so I'm asking for her. Sometimes, good people just deserve good things. Please offer some charity with a donation, or even a share on your page. FB, Twitter, wherever you are. Share it everywhere.
