Save Castlemore Heritage Site
Thank you for visiting our "Save Castlemore Heritage Site" Go Fund Me page. We are in need of your financial support to save this Brampton environmental treasure from further development. Our fundraising target is $10,000. Your financial support is critical to help offset the legal and planning consulting costs to mount an effective opposition to this proposed development. Please contribute generously to this important cause, we need your help. Our Resident group consisting of people from all walks of life including many retirees have already pledged their financial support and the community has raised $21,500 plus small proceeds from local fund raising efforts and hundreds of volunteer hours. Unfortunately due the costly nature of Legal Help and Consultation our funds are now limited to provide what further professional support we require. This has been a multiple year effort which has spanned over a decade but the last of the old Golf Course Lands need to be protected. We continue towards or goal of representing not only the residents of this Brampton neighbourhood but help set a president for all communities suffering from the neglect and attention required by trusted bodies who simply fall short of enforcing the laws and guidelines as they have been written.
The Castlemore Golf Course lands provide sanctuary for various protected stress and wildlife ( turtles, birds, deer etc) Our wildlife has already been impacted...we cannot allow the total destruction of this treasured land mass. Brampton needs more green space not less. Studies have shown that providing adequate green space planning in communities have a direct impact on the residents health. Planning groups have confirmed that our Castlemore area is significantly lacking in the amount of green space ( vs acres of home) that the provincial legislative guidelines mandate....we are short 7-8 acres of green space. From all of the environmental data..it is clear that this Castlemore area is an ideal Heritage Site that requires protection from development.
A proposal has been made by Treasure Hill Homes to completely destroy the last three parcels of what was the Castlemore Golf Course. Our residents group has been incorporated under " 2585426 Ontario Inc" to fight this proposed housing development that will destroy this natural heritage for generations to come. The resident group represents over 400 residents , along with approx 30 directors and is led by a volunteer elected executive:

With many hours of lobbying City Council the City of Brampton is now aligned with the residents and the Toronto Conservation Authority who all oppose any further development of these lands. The Builder has appealed our opposition of this development to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) and a hearing has been scheduled for July 2018.
In our partnership with the City Of Brampton and the Toronto Conservation Authority ...we have an "EXCELLENT CHANCE TO WIN THIS DEVELOPMENT BATTLE". We want to leave the Castlemore Lands...as a heritage/legacy to our children and grandchildren.......not to the destruction of the lands by greedy developers.
