Our family cat, Boots, had been showing signs of bloating and stopped eating as much as he normally does. When we went to the vet this morning, they diagnosed him with FIP.
We had no idea what FIP was and figured it was some illness that would need an antibiotic and we would be on our way. It broke our hearts to hear that it was fatal and Boots’ health would be rapidly declining over the next couple of weeks.
But we didn’t give up.
After hours of research, we found a specialist in Grand Rapids that prescribes a new drug that can cure FIP. The caveat being it’s not FDA approved, only a specialist can help, and the treatment plan is 3 months.
The costs of the specialist and treatment alone are enough to dig us a hole and keep us there for a while. To those of you that know me, you would already know May is not my favorite month because of my accident 2 years ago. Any money that can help keep us afloat during these times is more than enough and certainly appreciated. This is going to be an emotionally, financially, and mentally draining time for us but we stay strong and keep pushing!
