Save Barntown Castle (Late Medieval Tower House)

BARNTOWN CASTLE NEEDS YOUR HELP

Barntown Castle is a late medieval tower house, located in Barntown Co. Wexford. The structure is in a very vulnerable state and in order to prevent the structure from collapsing, it needs urgent remediation works. If these repairs are not carried out, there is no doubt the structure will fall and all its physical history will be lost forever.

Barntown Heritage Group, working in partnership with the landowner, are working towards carrying out essential repair works to the base of the tower house walls by late summer of 2021.

This is where your help is needed, as part of a grant allocation from Historic Structures Fund and other secured funds, the community group need to fundraise a further €5,300 to complete phase 1 of these important conservation works.

We have put together a short video about the castle and the importance of conserving these historic structures for future generations.

These funds will go towards the repair and stabilisation works to the base of the tower house wall and repointing of the outer walls up a height of 2m from the base of the castle and the addition of a tower house door to secure the structure.

We would love you all to be part of this important work and if you would like to contribute to our efforts in anyway, please click on the Donate button. Every Euro counts.

We wish to thank you for taking an interest in our project and we look forward to saving this historic structure and we look forward to the commencement of these important works.

Kindest regards

Barntown Heritage Group
