<div>Bangor Cathedral has been through a tough time recently and the choir is set to bear the brunt of the financial consequences, with its entire choral scholarship programme stopped and two of its three lay clerks made redundant.

<div>We have presented resourcing models for the future, but these have not been taken forwards as the redundancy consultation is already underway. The only chance we have to prevent the redundancies is to provide direct funding for the roles before the 2nd October (when the Chapter meets to make its final decision). Even then, we will only be able to save them for as long as the funds raised cover their salaries, and only if the Chapter agrees to keep them on. However, the public support illustrated by raising these funds would be a key factor in changing the Chapter’s mind about the future of the choir.
