SAVING BABY JOHN HIRO – NEEDING LIVER TRANSPLANT SURGERY

My name is Jessa Diaz. I am the Aunt of John Hiro Ayawan, five months old who is diagnosed with Compensated Cirrhosis secondary to Biliary Atresia. I am helping out his parents John and Rowena to raise a fund for his liver transplant procedure as recommended by his doctors.

Biliary Atresia is a progressive, fibro-obliterative disorder of the intra and extrahepatic bile ducts in infancy. Majority of affected children with this type of diagnosis will eventually develop end-stage liver disease and require liver transplantation. These potentially life threatening complications require the expertise of a multi-disciplinary team with experience caring for biliary atresia and the infant patients often experience long wait times for transplant.

His doctors and other medical professionals have recommended bringing our sick nephew to a hospital facility in India that provides an affordable health care facility for this type of diagnosis and transplanting procedure. Family preparedness for this arduous process is therefore critical.

The parents of Baby John Hiro are currently having financial hardships due to the medical expenses incurred for his diagnosis and treatment. I have made all my personal contributions in my own little way. Our families, friends and local community have already expressed their intention to help but it is not enough. It was at that point that I realized we needed more help from the GO FUND ME community to seek financial assistance to support his medical bills.
