Because of misogyny and toxic patriarchy in many poor, third world countries, many women are financially dependent on their male counterparts, be it a husband, a brother, a father, or any relative. I got a call from one of my friends, who chooses to keep herself anonymous, that she and her mother have been emotionally, verbally, and physically abused over the past 20 years by their father. The father is an uneducated, sexist, abusive man who tortures his wife and daughter whenever it is possible, leaving permanent physical and emotional damage. The mother is on the verge of killing herself because she feels helpless and hopeless. They can't speak against him because they are financially dependent on him, and he threatened to kick them out of his properties and starve them if they decided to go against him. Unfortunately, from where my friend comes from, women's rights are quashed and not listened to. The police don't usually interfere with family issues, and it leaves it for the family to figure it on their own. I encouraged my friend's mother to issue a divorce lawsuit against the father, but there are lawyer fees, and after divorce, the family would need to start a life independently. للأسف ليس للنساء حقوق تضمن لهم العيش الكريم في المكان الذي تعيش فيه صديقتي، ولا تتدخل الشرطة دائمًا في حل المنازعات بين الأسرة، بل يتركونها للأسرة لتتصرف فيها.
لقد شجعت والدة صديقتي على رفع دعوى طلاق ضد زوجها، ولكن هذه الدعوى تطلب تكاليف محاماة، وبعدها مساعدات مالية كي تبدأ حياة مستقلة مع ابنتها خالية من الاضطهاد النفسي والجسدي. كل فلس أو قرش تتبرع به سيساهم في انقاذ حياة هذه المرأة وابنتها. إذا أردت أي معلومات إضافية، الرجاء تواصل معي فورًا.
