Help our family stay together!

This fund is for my father Amado Molina-Santiago. Amado is a father, grandfather, husband, and coach who now finds himself in immigration proceedings. There is a chance for him to fight his case in court, but we need your help! After losing his job a few months back and having a hard time finding work Amado was arrested for a DUI after being sober for over 10 years. Our family is devastated that after years of hard work, one mistake is all it takes for us to lose our father.

My dad has been a Sacramento resident for 26 years. In those 26 years my dad has been a loving and exemplary role model for my sisters and I. He was a soccer coach at Woodlake Elementary School. His patient and encouraging style led the team to their first undefeated record. In 2013 my dad was nominated for father of the year by the Center for Fathers and Families.

For 10 years my father was sober with the help of a community AA program. He spent a lot of his time volunteering with the program and frequently spoke at meetings about his sobriety experience. To help himself remain sober, my dad began coaching adult soccer teams. He recruited players from all backgrounds and turned his team into a diverse community of brotherhood. He valued his players and served as a mentor by providing advice about home ownership, marriage, and fatherhood

Thanks to my dad’s example of giving back, my sisters and I have all developed a volunteer spirit. My dad taught us that it is not enough to live in a community, we have to give back. My sisters and I spend a lot of time volunteering with organizations that give back to our community.  I am a recent graduate from the University of California, Santa Cruz; acting volunteer president for a local non-profit organization;  and on a pathway to law school. His daughter , Silvia Rivera, is a wonderful mother of 3 children; passionate for health and exercise; and actively engaging and creating health settings for her family and peers. His youngest and 2nd daughter Ossiris Molina, is in high school but has already began to get involve with her community. She is and active volunteer for a local small non-profit organization.
Amado is not just a good dad, he’s a good person. We are not only at risk of losing our dad, the community is at risk of losing a role model. On June 11th, 2017 my dad will have a hearing for his bond, and if he is released he will have a chance to remain in Sacramento. However, his bond is estimated to be $6,000 and with attorney fees and house bills, our family is unable to afford the money out of pocket, so WE NEED YOUR HELP. Losing our dad would not just cause heartbreak, but hardship as well. Sacramento is hishome. Please help our family stay together. Anything helps.
Sincerely,

The Molina Family
