<div>Our small but mighty school, Rolando Park Elementary, fought hard to prevent the mid-year cut of a beloved teacher due to low enrollment. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we were unable to stop it. <strong>We are one of the most diverse schools in San Diego—90% of our students are from minority backgrounds, 83% come from economically disadvantaged families, and many are refugees entering the U.S. for the first time. </strong>Together we fought to give these students the stability they deserved.

<div><strong>Though we couldn’t save our classroom, our voices were heard and the district is working with us to prevent this happening again and is pushing for more equity throughout our district. </strong>The district acknowledged our school as a hidden gem with it's outstanding academic performance, consistently outperforming our district and the state for several years. While our beloved teacher is being reallocated to another school, we remain committed to giving our students the best chance at success.
