Save a Dog's Life - We have 48 hours!

Donation protected
UPDATE as of 1:30pm 2/26: Griffin was in surgery for 7.5 HOURS yesterday! That's right, 7.5 hours. He underwent major surgery at Charlotte Animal Referral and Emergency (CARE) to repair his shattered pelvis. The doctors said that they feel good about the outcome! But since the surgery was so major, the final cost estimate is $8,000. We should have a written estimate share this afternoon (because transparency is important to everyone).

North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue is doing incredible work (Griffin is one of many dogs in their care) and has taken on a great deal of responsibility in order to save Griffin's life. So we're going to rally once more to raise the final amount to cover the surgery and hopefully a little extra to get him through his 8 week recovery!

Anything you can do to help -- please continue sharing and asking friends, family, co-workers, anyone you know who can help.

You can also make a tax-deductible donation directly to North Meck Animal Rescue's special donation page for Griffin here: https://northmeckanimalrescue.z2systems.com/np/clients/northmeckanimalrescue/donation.jsp?campaign=22

Thanks again for the tremendous support!

UPDATE as of 12pm 2/23:  As of Saturday Feb 23 (one day after he was scheduled to be euthanized), we still need to raise $2,200 to cover the remaining costs. He's in need of multiple surgeries to fix his shattered pelvis and leg, which is estimated to cost at least $6,000. North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue is overseeing his care and has put down a $4,000 deposit so far. I just posted a picture of the receipt for the deposit (check the photos!). 100% of funds will go directly to North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue to reimburse these costs and make sure he get's the very best treatment he can.  We've come this far, we can't stop now! Long live Griffin <3

UPDATE as of 5pm 2/21: He has been rescued and has been seen by an awesome vet! He has been named Griffin, and he is a very sweet 4 year old brindle pit bull (age approx.). He has a broken pelvis and is being referred to a specialist (see update posted earlier). We are continuing to raise funds because his vet bills could likely surpass what we've currently raised based his new diagnosis. We will keep you posted as we find out more. Thank you so much for all the support and kindness this community as shown for this sweet boy, Griffin <3

UPDATE as of 9am 2/21: We have a rescuer who is stepping up to the plate! They let me know the surgery will very likely cost around $3,500 -- we have upped our goal and are continuing to raise funds the make sure this dog's life is saved and he doesn't have to lose his leg. He's been sitting at Animal Control with a broken leg since Saturday morning :(

On Saturday morning, Feb. 16, while driving down The Plaza I found a dog laying helpless & injured in the middle of the road, in the pouring rain. The dog had been hit by a car (apparently) and had been left behind. Thankfully, a few other amazing community members stopped to block traffic in the lane where he was laying while I called Animal Control to have someone rescue him. Luckily one of us was able to pick the dog up from the road and move him to safety while AC was being dispatched.

The dog, who is a beautiful 1 year old (approx.) Pit Bull  (update: doctors approximate his age to be 4 yrs old), is currently sitting at Animal Control, with a broken leg and other minor injuries, waiting to be rescued.  Animal Control had said they will not seek treatment until a rescue/foster/adopter comes to get him.

He has until Feb. 22 to be rescued or he will be euthanized.

We are seeking donations that will go directly towards the dog's urgent medical treatment in hopes that having a medical fund on hand will increase the likelihood that someone will step up to save this sweet dog's life. Our amazing community is actively reaching out to rescues, friends, family, and social media networks to find someone to permanently adopt the dog or temporarily foster.

100% of funds will go to whomever rescues this sweet dog and saves his life! Your donation will increase the chances of saving this dogs life. But we have less than 48 hours! Please help. Please donate what you can!

In the event that someone does not step up to save the dog in the next 48 hours, all funds will be returned immediately.

Here is a link to the Animal Control's web page with more information on the dog, including his ID#. The dog can be identified as A1150093.

Thank you!
