As you may already know, I attend University of Pittsburgh and have been involved in Cornerstone, a Christian fellowship on campus. This fellowship provides a number of ministries that I have been able to take part in while at school such small group bible study, weekly worship and prayer meetings, discipleship and mentoring relationships, as well as various service projects. In the next year, I will be participating into two short-term mission/service trips.
This year during spring break Cornerstone has decided to send a team of students to Joseph City, Arizona. We will be staying at N.A.O.M.I. House (Native American Outreach Ministries Incorporated). N.A.O.M.I. is a non-denominational Christian Ministry. Genevieve Skidmore and her staff minister primarily to Navajo children and their families. Their main thrust of ministry is the Children's Home where we will be devoting our time to help maintain the property, spending time with the kids that stay there, and giving the staff a much needed break. Additionally, Cornerstone is a part of an organization called the CCO (Coalition for Christian Outreach). The CCO is a campus ministry organization that wants to see God transform college students to transform the world. I hope to travel with the CCO to Peru in May 2020 for a three-week service and adventure trip. The purpose of the trip is to learn how to be Christ-like servants as we experience another culture. We will learn about the culture, history, politics, economy, ethics, and environments of Peru. In addition to exploring Cusco and Machu Picchu, we will be living with and serving people in Huancayo. Students who have ben a part of these kinds of trips in the past have come back with a new passion for the Gospel and deeper understanding about how to care for people.
I have the opportunity to be a part of this amazing missions trips, but I cannot do it alone. I need you to prayerfully consider supporting this endeavor. Please be praying for me as I look forward to this trip, the planning that goes into it, and the means by which I will achieve my goal. The funds cover team transportation, project supplies, food for the week, and a donation to NAOMI House, as well as travel accommodations, food, equipment and board for Peru. If you are able and willing, I’m asking for a donation to help us afford these trips.
