Sauvons Mango atteinte de la PIF

Mango is a 10 months old Oriental shorthair that was full of life up to last week. She is now doing her very best to leave this world, and we will have none of this. She is battling a deadly virus, the FIP for feline infectious peritonitis. Up to a few years ago, there was no survival possibility for FIP but now thanks to Ebola research, an experimental molecule is now showing promise and we want to try it.

If she responds, Mango will need 12 weeks of treatment at grossly 600$ a week, plus the 1500$ already spent on diagnosis. It’s a lot of money. It’s too much money for me. But thousands of cats have already pulled through FIP with this molecule I’d hate not to be able to try it. 

Two years ago I myself had to stop working because of severe health issues (CRPS) and my cats are what helped me get through this. Them, and a handful of very precious friends and doctors who gave everything they had to help me through it. Now that I am getting a bit better, I feel like helping my cats stay healthy and well is the minimum I can do for them. This year alone I’ve had two cats go through extensive abdominal surgery, one through hospitalization and I lost my eldest 15yo Rex to cancer. Mango is unlucky enough to be the fifth very sick cat in my life in 2019, with no more budget to help her get the care she needs.

So right now we are fighting against the clock and need help urgently. I’ve always thought it was my responsibility to care for my pets but now I’m overwhelmed. If it’s true that go fund me can help save lives, then I need to ask for it. For Mango, because she deserves it. Thank you so much.

Mango est une petite chatte Orientale âgée de 10 mois qui était en pleine forme la semaine dernière. En quelques jours, elle a décliné et tente maintenant de quitter notre monde, atteinte d’un virus très agressif, la PIF pour péritonite infectieuse féline. Il y a quelques années nous n’aurions rien pu faire pour elle, mais grâce à la recherche sur l’ébola une molécule expérimentale a prouvé qu’elle pouvait attiré la PIF et sauver des milliers de chats, et je désire offrir cette chance à Mango.

Si elle répond bien au traitement, il lui faudra être traitée pendant 12 semaines pour un coût de 600$ par semaine, plus les 1500$ déjà dépensés pour faire le diagnostic et la stabiliser. C’est trop pour moi.

Il y a deux ans je suis devenue invalide suite à une maladie grave (CRPS) et mes chats, avec une poignée d’amies et de médecins extraordinaires et irremplaçables, m’ont aidée à traverser cette épreuve. Maintenant que je vais un peu mieux, je ne peux que tenter d’offrir le mieux à mes chats en retour de leur présence. Malheureusement cette année, deux d’entre eux ont eu à subir une chirurgie abdominale extensive, le troisième fut hospitalisé sous soins intensifs, et j’ai perdu mon plus vieux, un Rex d 15 ans, des suites d’un cancer. La vie s’acharne, tous ces épisodes n’étaient pas reliés mais ont vidé mon budget et je retrouve incapable financièrement d’aider Mango. Moi qui ait toujours cru que c’était ma responsabilité à moi de payer pour soigner mes animaux, je me retrouve face à une situation lourde et je ne peux qu’appeler à l’aide.

C’est la course contre la montre pour sauver Mango, et ensuite ce sera le marathon. Merci de nous aider elle et moi à traverser cette nouvelle épreuve. Surtout elle, car elle le mérite tellement.
