Sarita’s Courageous Fight to the End Fund

My name is Amanda and I am putting together this GoFundMe for my Sister-In-Law Sarita Colon on behalf of her Mother, Sandra Formica, Father, Ronald Formica and brothers Shane, Barry and Daniel.
Sarita is a beautiful, courageous and inspirationally tough young 45 year old woman faced with the awful disease called Cancer. Back in 2016, Sarita uncovered a nasty tumor on her breast which quickly was discovered to be cancerous and very aggressive. She worked closely with her amazing team of doctors and nurses and discussed the game plan of attack including chemotherapy and weeks of radiation followed by a mastectomy with reconstructive surgery and the removal of lymph nodes. For a while Sarita thought she was in the clear and was feeling pretty good.
Late Spring into the Summer of 2017 she started having headaches and one day at work the headache came so quickly and aggressively it created a black out and a small seizure. While in the ER, the doctors identified a tumor in her brain through the scans. In July, Sarita had the tumor removed where the doctor was happy to report he got everything. Her oncologist required bi-monthly MRI’s post-surgery and each one came back clear for months until February of 2019.
Unfortunately, this was not the news sis wanted to hear. That afternoon she went to go visit her mom and dad and shared that the scanned revealed 4 small tumors throughout the brain. The oncologist recommended radiation on the brain and a full body scan as sis was also in an incredible amount of pain in her low back all the way down through her left leg. It was numbing and hard to walk. The full body scan shared a small cancerous tumor in her back as well that was pressing on a significant nerve. Sarita recently was admitted to the hospital for pain management and began her chemotherapy treatments again hoping to decrease her pain in her back and legs and shrink any tumors existing.
*Update* It’s been a very long, painful and tiring road for sis. After what was shared above she continued having pain in head and back... the doctors revealed after completing a lumbar procedure she had cancer in her spinal fluid.
Sarita Colon is simply amazing! She’s a rock and has fought an incredible fight and has now decided she wants to end treatments and spend whatever time she has left with her girls and family.
Now that you know her story- we wanted to put together this donation opportunity to help support her three young girls ages 14, 13 and 10. Sarita continued to push and work each day and fight every moment she’s got while showing her girls there’s still lots of life to live and how to be strong.
This GoFundMe money will be used for multiple purposes such as bills (Regular every day, large medical expenses or treatments and/or travel expenses etc.) Also, any additional donations after these expenses (which is most important to sis) is having money available for her girls to attend college.
