Sarcoidosis Project
Donation protected
Myself, Karolien Verheyen, and professor Wim Wuyts of the University Hospital, Leuven, Belgium, are starting a campaign to raise funds for a sarcoidosis project.
Sarcoidosis is a very interesting and complex disorder that can affect many parts of the body such as skin, eyes, lungs, heart, joints, muscles and brain.
We are gathering funds to start a project to investigate the quality of life of sarcoidosis patients and this will be done with tablets.
A larger part of the project will be a cooperation between different international sarcoidosis researchers who are investigating markers on when a patient should be treated and when not. The reason being is that treatment consists out of corticosteroids. These have many unpleasant side effects that perhaps can be avoided if it is known who needs treatment and who not.
Funds are thus gathered to pay for Karolien Verheyen as she will be Prof Wuyts' assistant and write reports, work on ideas, work together with a PhD student and employees of the lung fibrosis department.
We need your support to make this happen!
Thanks for your help!
P.S.: Every donor will be updated by email, on the progress of the project when I start working in UZ Leuven.
