Sara's Breast Cancer Fund

In 2012, Sara found a new lump in her breast and was having various health symptoms. She had 3 breast surgeries before the age of 20 for various fast growing fibroid tumors. A visit with a surgeon put her mind at ease that it was of a similar shape and texture and she continued searching for what could be the cause for her ongoing health issues. After a year of testing with conventional medicine, resulting in a diagnosis of celiac disease, connective tissue disorders and auto immune disease, Sara decided to work on her health from the inside out.

She began seeing a naturopath who figured out many key vitamins and minerals she was missing. She radically changed her diet and learned ways to help her entire family live healthier. While she made huge progress with living symptom free for 2 years, continued breast thermogram testing showed vascularity of concern in the same breast she was originally concerned about and gut issues continued that her doctor said she may always struggle with, having celiac disease.

During a routine yearly appointment with her OB in 2014, she mentioned she felt like she had mastitis, even though she hadn't nursed for over 2 years. The doctor assured her this would be rare, but ordered a sonogram. The radiologist again saw harmless fibroids. Sara pointed out an area of shadowing behind the fibroids, which was noted by the technician but again dismissed by the radiology doctor. The report stated, "normal" return in 6 months.

In 3 months Sara had another thermography, signaling high risk, so her naturopath sent her for an MRI. In May 2015 the MRI showed a large area of concern for breast cancer (7cm x 5cm x 4cm) Her surgeon did a follow up sonogram and felt nothing was urgent and advised a repeat MRI in 3-4 months. The repeat MRI showed the area slightly smaller, however the surgeon wanted to do 5 biopsies of various fibroids vs surgery.

Drew and Sara weighed their options and decided to do nontoxic therapies first. They felt a biopsy 13 years ago contributed to the current situation, and they knew Sara's immune system needed help. At this time they were in the middle of an over due house project and the added stress took its toll on Sara's health.

In April 2015, Sara went to Hope4Cancer in Tijuana for 3 weeks to focus on detoxing her body, rebuilding her immune system and dealing with emotional wounds related to cancer . She did many effective therapies including Rigivir immunotherapy injections that she still takes bi-monthly. Through this experience she also met her health coach who helped her with testing to find out she had SIBO and Lyme disease this entire time, weighing down her immune system and allowing cancer to continue to thrive.

Sara's cancer markers have never been helpful in tracking her disease, so they have used other blood work, including Nagalase, which was almost normal in Sept. 2016. Unfortunately in Oct. things seemed to flare up, inflammatory markers spiked and by her check up in Mexico in Nov, all of her cancer markers were slightly abnormal for the first time ever.

The head doctor thought she would be a good candidate for a new therapy at their Cancun clinic, so they quickly made travel plans and were back in Cancun in early Dec. Sara got a port surgically installed, because the environment makes patients prone to infections. However within a week and a half the clinic realized customs wasn't going to release some of the key equipment they needed to prepare for the main treatment. Because of the holidays, Sara was sent home after only a week and a half and the plan was to return in January when things were ready.

Unfortunately, Sara was feeling increased pain in her sternum and back so Drew and she felt they needed to act soon vs wait to hear back from Cancun. They contacted EuroMed in Arizona, a clinic that does a low dose chemo (IPT) and immunotherapy and has a great success rate with the type of cancer Sara has. It had always been their plan B.

Within a week, Sara had a biopsy, a PET scan and was in Arizona getting her first IPT treatment!

We are now about 6 months into treatment and it is working, praise God!  Unfortunately, with BCBS of KS there is no coverage for integrative treatments, which total well over $150,000 at this point and that doesn't include costs of travel or the natural treatments Sara did last year totaling about another $70,000.  We must keep going.  Please consider supporting  Sara and our family. We promise to continue spreading the Truth and wisdom we learn to help others like us.
