As you all know, Sarai's background is heavily creative: she flew through film school, spent a decade doing editing, production and on-air work with PBS, plus countless independent projects in her own time. 24 hours a day, her mind is churning out amazing, creative, compelling and beautiful creative ideas.
Years ago, Sarai started work on a documentary outlining the life and experiences of the first Asian female fire chief in Las Vegas (and one of the very first women in that role nationally). The project has continued in tiny increments for more than a decade, and is now quite close to being completed.
However, an antiquated desktop editing system has become a serious drain on her ability to complete this project (or many of the other creative ideas she dreams of pursuing), and it's clear that she needs a lightweight, powerful laptop that she can use to wrap up this amazing project and start the next one. We do have a (somewhat) newer iMac that she often uses for creative projects, but it still keeps her chained to a desk and stuck at home with an easily-excited four-year-old - hardly the easiest environemnt for a creative mind to thrive. A laptop will allow her to do creative work while also enabling her to be more mobile and work from quiet places where she can focus, plus the option of doing on-site audio/video recording.
Given everything Sarai has sacrificed over the years, I'm determined to make 2015 the year in which she blasts through the completion of this documentary. To ensure that she's equipped for success my sister Chris and I are putting together this fundraiser to allow everyone who loves and respects her to chip in toward a MacBook Pro for Sarai.
If you haven't already purchased a Christmas gift for her (and/or me!), please consider donating a few bucks to this GoFundMe project instead - whatever money we raise here will help offset the cost of a nicely-equipped Mac laptop that she can use to really achieve her creative potential. I can't wait to see what she can do with all our help!
